What is wndrlust?

Posted May 5th, 2008 by wndrlust

Wndrlust (pronounced "wanderlust") is a Digg style, community driven aggregator dedicated to travel news, tales, tips, pictures, and videos. Wndrlust aims to form a collective of travel-related content from the web while letting the community decide which submissions are the most relevant to their interests. The wndrlust voting system ensures the best submissions are risen to the top of their categories and the not-so-good submissions sink to the bottom. Wndrlust encourages all you backpackers, roadtrippers, drifters, and tourists alike to share your experience and knowledge with the community!

How does wndrlust work?

  1. Submit Content
Once you register with the wndrlust community you are instantly capable of submitting your travel news, tales and more. Find an interesting travel story while surfing the web? Submit it!
  2. Upcoming Entries
Once an entry is submitted, it will appear on the Upcoming Entries page where it will be viewed by other wndrlust members and voted "up" or "down". Entries that acquire a certain amount of "up" votes get transformed into a published entry.
  3. Published Entries
Published entries are upcoming entries that received at least 2 votes and were moved to the published entries category and possibly the front page of wndrlust.
  4. Up Voting
As you browse both upcoming and published entries, you have the option to "vote up" an entry by clicking on the up arrow directly beneath that entries ranking. You may only vote up an article one time. The more up votes an entry receives, the higher on the popularity list it moves.
  5. Down Voting
If you come across an entry that you feel is not relevant or does not belong on the published page, you have the option to "down vote" it. Down voting an entry counts as a negative vote for that particular entry. If enough people decide to down vote an entry, it may result in falling to the bottom of the page with a decreased ranking.
  6. Commenting
Like any good web community, you have the ability to leave comments on both upcoming and published entries. We absolutely encourage commenting as it helps build a strong community and gives feedback to other members on their entries.
